Some rules to help you learn Tamil
There are some rules, which will help you learn Tamil.
Any vowel can begin or end a word.
But of the 18 consonants, only nine can occur at the start of a word.
க ச ட த ப ந ஞ ம ய வ and other eleven occur at the middle or end of the word.
The letters r and l are not permitted initials and hence all words starting with r or l take a e before if. Hence ராமா is written இராமா, ராதை as இராதை, ருபம் becomes உருவம்,
லங்கை becomes இலங்கை. lokam becomes உலகம்.
