Tenses - Past, present and future in Tamil

In Tamil, there are three tenses namely kadanda kaalam(past tense), nigazh kaalam(present tense), edhirkaalam(future tense)

The following is for First person pronoun I - நான்

naan(நான்) is I.

nada is walk

past tense                       present tense                                   future tense

naan nadandEn naan nadakkirEn naan nadappEn

 

padu is sleep

naan paduththEn naan padukkirEn naan paduppEn

 

Odu is run

naan OdinEn naan OdugirEn naan OduvEn

 

Following are some of the verbs try to make the three tenses following the given examples given above.

thaa - give

vaa - come

pO - go

padi - read

paar - see

nil - stand

kal - learn

aagu - become

saa - die

nO - pain

thoongu - sleep

Since the ending of a word will denote who is saying, we can leave out the personal pronoun "naan".

nadakkirEn means I am walking

OdugirEn means I am running

varugirEn means I am coming

vaLar means grow. So to say I am growing. vaLargirEn.

saagirEn mean I am dying.

nirtkiren - I am standing.

nindren - I was standing.

nirtppEn - I will stand.

thoongugirEn - I am sleeping

thoonginEn - I was sleeping

thoonguvEn - I will sleep
