Note: All consonants have inherent a sound in it.
We will start with the easiest
व - va
This is similar to d in English, with an elongated line and also a horizontal line on above.

ब - ba
क - ka
ख - kha
Make flashcards out of these letters and try to join them with vowel signs and them produce various sounds and word combinations. Don't worry about the meaning just try to make some new words and read them. And also if you find any posters or wallposts or authentic signs, you can try to read them or identify these letters in a paragraph of text.
