Lesson 4

In the previous lesson you saw vowel signs for उ(u) and (ऊ)oo.

So some words to practise with these letters and vowel signs.

कुमार - kumaar - (a name/ sometimes means son)

राम कुमार - Raam Kumaar is a name which also means Raam's son(Like Johnson).

ऊन - un is wool.

ऊँची - oonchi is high/upper etc

The half circle with a dot on top of a letter denotes nasalization and it adds the n/m sound.

It is called chandra(moon) bindu.

सूरत - soorat - look

मूरत - moorat - clay figure

खूबसूरत - khoobsoorat - beautiful/handsome

स्कूल - scool - school (note when two consonants come together the shape of the first

consonant changes)

साप - saap - snake

खून - khoon - blood
